Objectives

The main aims of WeSC are as follows:

• To promote e-Science research and development in a broad area encompassing Wales and parts of the south-west of England;
  
  
• To encourage the exploitation of e-Science ICT technologies (i.e., Grid computing) by industry and academia; and,
  
  
• To pursue research focussing in the following areas:
• data and knowledge management and interoperation of heterogeneous distributed information resources.
• problem-solving environments for scientific and engineering applications.
• distributed visualization for immersive and collaborative applications. Further information is available on joint projects between industry and academia funded through the Welsh e-Science Centre that further these objectives.
