International Airport is 11 miles from the city centre. There
are coach (National
Express) and railway links from London's Heathrow and Gatwick
airports to Cardiff city centre. Then follow the "By foot" instructions
below to get to WeSC.
- By rail.The
rail companies provide a frequent, high speed InterCity 125 train
service between all major British cities. The Cardiff-London InterCity
service, from London Paddington, runs some seventeen times a day,
with a journey time of less then two hours. Frequent regional
network trains connect Cardiff with Bristol (45 mins), Birmingham
(2 hrs 15 mins), Southampton (2 hrs 40 mins), Manchester (3 hrs),
Liverpool (3 hrs 30 mins), and with many other cities and towns.
Once at Cardiff Central railway station take the main exit and
follow the "By foot" directions below.
- By road.Take
the M4 motorway to Cardiff, exiting at junction 32. Then follow
the A470 south into Cardiff city centre. Just before reaching
the city centre turn left onto Boulevard de Nantes. Continue straight
onto Stuttgart Strasse, and follow the road first right onto Dumfries
Place, and then left onto Newport Road. Then take the next turn
left onto West Grove, and the next turn left again onto The Parade.
Important: See below on Car Parking.
- By foot.On
exiting the railway station you should be in Central Square which
is also the location of the National Express coach station. Refering
to the above street maps, go across the square and turn right
onto Wood Street; turn left onto St Mary Street which later turns
into the High Street and will bring you to Cardiff Castle. Turn
right onto Duke Street, and where the road swings left go straight
onto Queen Street which is a pedestrian zone. Go to the end of
Queen Street to where it meets the junction of Dumphries Place
and Newport Road. Cross the road and follow Newport Road for about
200 metres before turning left onto West Grove. Then take the
first turn left onto The Parade. The Welsh e-Science Centre is
located in the Queens Building complex at the end of The Parade.
Car Parking
If you have special
needs with respect to mobility, please contact Mrs Margaret Evans,
Margaret.Evans@cs.cf.ac.uk
and we will be pleased to make appropriate parking arrangements.
In all other cases,
parking is not possible on-site for visitors due to building work
in progress. We therefore advise visitors to the Welsh e-Science
Centre to use local public parking facilities. NCP has car parks
on Dumfries Place (entrance in St. Andrews Lane, off St. Andrews
Place) and Fitzalan Road. These car parks are only 5 minutes walk
from the Centre. |
